Photovoice - Visual Voices

Proposed Date: September – November 2024  

Goal: To enable identified individuals living with past or present daily personal, social, and emotional challenges to express their life experiences through the use of photography and accompanying narratives.

Aims: Through Photovoice participants will:

  • document personal life experiences living with past or present daily personal, social, and emotional challenges;

  • provide evidence through photographs and personal narratives of the successes and challenges that accompanies an individual living with past or present daily personal, social, and emotional challenges;

  • raise public awareness and understanding for all residents, along with all social agency workers / health care providers, of the issues of being an individual living with past or present daily personal, social, and emotional challenges;

  • encourage the continuation and/or improvement of coordinated and constructive dialogue between, and amongst, all levels of government regarding the needs and supports necessary for Elders;

  • create a positive sense of self and community advocacy to seek, and obtain, caring supports when and where necessary, and

  • take part (voluntarily) in a community art exhibition showcasing individual photographs and accompanying narratives depicting life experiences.
